On October 7th a ceremony was held to
mark the opening of the Leverett Circle Connector and the Storrow Drive Bridge.
The many politicians who attended and spoke all commended the great job done on the
project by the construction workers and companies involved. The speakers included Governor
Cellucci and James Keresiotes.
The work involved included the installation of two 15 KV armored interlock cables. The
cables run approximately two thousand feet on the underside of I-93. Each cable is
supported by a messenger at an elevation |

of sixty feet. The cables serve
a doubled ended unit substation, which will be used to provide power for the construction
of the new mainline bridge. City Lights performed all of the work including the complex
cable pulls, 15 KV terminations and splices, and cleaning of the owner furnished
switchgear.
A Navigation Assistance System was installed to help boaters using the Charles River to
enjoy it safely .
The high voltage conduit work involved the installation of 5000' of five inch rigid
conduit. The communication and 480 volt conduits installed totaled |

more than 30,000 feet of Above Ground
Fiberglass Reinforced Epoxy conduit, supplied by the Arthur Hurley Wire Company. Power
Panels were installed to feed the metal halide lighting and convenience receptacles.
Traffic Loops were installed and poured in place. The connection of the loops will be
completed under the follow on contract, which is the C22A2
project. We will be part
of the team on this 112 Million Dollar Project. A special thank you goes to Rich
Mansfield, project foreman; to all of our employees who worked on the project; and to the
Daniel O'Connell's Sons Company, the General Contractor; and to Mr. Bruce Anderson, their
Project Manager.
