Leverett Circle
Connector Bridge to Open October 7, 1999
The Massachusetts Turnpike Authority has announced the opening
of the initial Leverett Circle Connector including the Storrow
Drive Connector Bridge on October 7, 1999. Governor Paul Cellucci
and many elected officials will join with the Massachusetts
Turnpike Authoritys Chairman James J. Kerasiotes in
the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Leverett Circle Connector and the Storrow Drive Bridge
are the second major milestone reached on the Central Artery
Project. The Storrow Drive Bridge has three spans totaling
over 830 feet. The bridge is built using steel box girders,
which are the largest in the United States.
City Lights Electrical Company Inc. is proud to have been
a part of completing this milestone on schedule.
The Storrow Drive Bridge, is the third
milestone we have helped to achieve on the Central Artery
Tunnel Project to date. The two previous milestones were the
Broadway Bridge which opened in January of this year and the
Ted Williams Tunnel which opened in December 1995.
