Liberty Tunnel
Northbound Opens
Boston, MA-The Central Artery/ Tunnel Project celebrated the
opening of the Liberty Tunnel (I93) northbound tunnel Thursday,
March 27, 2003. The opening ceremony was held in the tunnel
section just south of the Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge. Matt Amorello,
Chairman of the MTA spoke briefly in the tunnel, then the
banner blocking the tunnel entrance was pulled back and the
crowd marched to the top of the Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge for
the official ceremony. The opening capped City Lights Electrical's
13 years of work on the project.
City Lights Electrical is proud to add this accomplishment
to a growing list of milestones it has been a part of on the
Central Artery/Tunnel Project including: The Ted Williams
Tunnel (1995), The Broadway Bridge (1999), The Storrow Drive
Bridge (1999), The Mass Pike (I90) Tunnel Extension (2003)
and now the Liberty Tunnel (I93) Northbound.
