City Lights has completed a number of major
transportation projects - including many fast-track jobs -
in and around the City of Boston. This includes the installation
of overhead catenaries, as well as the related traction power
systems, for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's
Silver Line project. When completed, the Silver Line will
utilize a dual electric/diesel system to power buses, and
will carry an estimated 60,000 passengers daily.
Other work completed by City Lights in the
transportation services field includes the installation of
a light-emitting diode messaging system, better know as LEDs,
at 65 MBTA commuter rail stations in eastern Massachusetts.
The scope of work for this project included sign structure
fabrication, variable message sign installation, fiber optic
cabling, fiber terminations, certified testing of fiber optic
cabling, concrete work, and the installation of CES bungalows.
Despite having to perform all of this work at multiple locations
spread out over the entire eastern half of the state, City
Lights completed this fast-track job in just 120 days.

Highways and Bridges
Highway projects are also among City Lights' major strengths
in the transportation field. Past work in this area includes
the installation of lighting and electrical systems within
Boston's Ted Williams Tunnel, which links Interstate 90 with
Logan International Airport. The tunnel also represented one
of the first major milestones for the city's Central Artery
Tunnel project, better known as the Big Dig.

Intelligent Transportation
Management Systems
City Lights also specializes in intelligent transportation
management and traffic systems, with experience in every aspect
from signaling and communication networks, to pedestrian signals
and variable message signs.
Renovations. Our team has renovated
over 500 intersections throughout the state. Intersections
on the Central Artery Tunnel Project C17A1 are reconfigured
in a 24-hour period. The reconfiguration includes the removal
of existing signals, installation of new cables, conduits,
and signals. All work is completed working with the General
Contractor, who is excavating and paving to relocate the roadway
at the same time we complete our work.
Emergency Service. City Lights performs
emergency service around the clock. We can remove and reset
I.T.M.S. equipment, signals and/or equipment damaged in auto
accidents. Damaged cables and/or controllers can be repaired
and/or replaced.
